In-Progress
Castle Drive is a mid-century modern property layered with rich Craftsman details and imbued with decades of previous owners’ personalities and perspectives throughout the home. While it had recently undergone a light remodel, the primary bathroom still felt confined and disconnected from the rest of the home.
The new homeowners were eager to make their existing primary bathroom more functional by redefining the layout, adding modern features, and taking advantage of their beautiful views into the Oakland Hill valley.
Immersive Nature
Prioritizing Self-Care
STUDIOETTE worked closely with the homeowners to reimagine a peaceful and expansive bathroom by adjusting the layout for function, while also honoring the existing home finishes and details.
As an example, the intricate wood inlay at their existing flooring directly inspired design detailing for the custom cabinetry in their primary bedroom.
A new picture window and clerestory windows now integrate this space into its surroundings and take advantage of the beautiful views into the Oakland Hill Valley.
By expanding into the ceiling crawl space, this remodel captures additional ceiling height, bringing a welcome airiness and lightness to the space. Custom millwork at the vanity and closets balance this loftiness with a sense of depth and permanence.
